Today's March Meet the Maker prompt is process. (Part 1) I thought I'd talk about the process behind making these watercolour pieces I'm working on and give you a glimpse inside my battered sketchbook. After selecting which words I wanted to illuminate in this series, I planned which typeface style I'd use for each. As you can see from the sketches, they're all quite different. It was an exercise in thinking through the supraliminal nature of type. I also spent some time in this stage working out what botanical elements I was going to include, drawing on the language of flowers from the Victorian era.
