Hi there! I’m Lara Beeston from Lacewing Creative, and I want to share with you the top five things that have really helped me grow my art and my business. These tips have made a big difference in my journey, and I hope they inspire you too.

Number 5: Embrace the Power of Breakfast for Dinner

This might sound a little unusual, but staying flexible with your routines can be a game changer. When I was starting out, I attended a talk that wasn’t even about art. It was about busy mums juggling everything. Hearing that it’s okay to have breakfast for dinner was so freeing. It reminded me that sometimes, small changes can make a big difference. If porridge is good for breakfast, it’s just as good for dinner. This simple idea helped me feel less stressed and more creative. I highly recommend trying it if you’re feeling overwhelmed.

Other Tips That Helped Me

  • Getting the right tools: My husband gave me my own laptop for my birthday. It gave me space to experiment and learn without feeling restricted.
  • Practicing with sketchbooks: I still love starting with a simple grid sketchbook and a mechanical pencil. It keeps my ideas flowing without the pressure of perfection.
  • Using the library: It’s a treasure trove of inspiration. Borrowing books keeps my creativity alive and costs nothing.
  • Learning to vector: Knowing how to create crisp lettering makes my work look professional and saves me time.
